About us
Groundworkers Who Got Tired of Broken Hire Machines
The company was started by two groundworkers who spent a decade losing days to hire equipment that arrived with flat batteries, seized quick hitches, missing pins, cracked hoses and half a tank of fuel. Their view was that a hire machine is a tool somebody is paying by the hour to use, and every hour it does not work is money and daylight gone. Every process here — servicing, checking, loading, delivering — exists to make sure the machine starts and works from the first minute.
Machines return to the yard and go straight to the workshop rather than back onto the hire line. Fluids, filters, tracks, pins, bushes, hoses, hitches and safety systems are checked against a written list, greasing is done properly rather than sprayed at, damage is repaired before the next hire, and every machine is run and function-tested before loading. Fuel goes out full and comes back full, with no refuelling charge dressed up as a service fee. The check sheet travels with the machine and is signed on delivery.
Half our customers are trades and half are private owners doing something ambitious in their own garden, and the handover is written for both. Everybody gets a walk-round covering controls, safe slopes, service positions, quick hitch locking, what to do about buried services and where the isolator is. We would rather spend fifteen minutes on that than recover a machine from the side of a trench, and in eleven years we have had two serious incidents, neither on a machine we handed over ourselves.
