GD Groundwork Plant Hire

Services

What We Hire and Supply

Excavators, loaders, dumpers, compaction, attachments, operators and site support.

Road building machinery working on a new surface

Mini and Midi Excavators

From seven hundred kilos with retractable tracks for access through a standard gateway, through one, two and three tonne machines, to five-tonne excavators with cabs, air conditioning and long-reach options. All come with a set of buckets, a grading bucket, working lights and beacons, and can be supplied with rubber or steel tracks depending on the surface being crossed. Zero and near-zero tailswing machines are available for work against walls and in narrow yards.

Loaders, Dumpers and Telehandlers

Compact wheel loaders and skid steers with buckets, forks and grabs; tracked and wheeled dumpers from half a tonne to six tonnes including high-tip and swivel-skip models; and telehandlers up to seven metres with forks, a bucket and a man-basket where certification allows. Everything is matched by weight and ground pressure to the site, and we will say when a machine is too heavy for a surface rather than delivering it and letting the hirer find out.

Attachments and Small Plant

Hydraulic breakers, augers with a full range of flights, compaction plates and wackers, rollers from pedestrian to ride-on, grabs, rippers, tilt and rotating hitches, trench boxes, shoring props, pumps, generators, lighting towers and disc cutters. Attachments are supplied on the correct hitch with pins and clips, pressure tested before loading, and hired with or without the machine they suit. Consumables such as auger teeth and breaker points are stocked and sold at trade prices.

Operated Hire

Machine and operator by the day or week for hirers without a card, without the time or without the appetite for digging near services. Our operators are certificated, insured and experienced in domestic gardens as well as commercial sites, and they arrive with a first-aid kit, a fire extinguisher and the paperwork a principal contractor will ask for. Operated hire is frequently cheaper than self-hire for a short job because the work is finished in half the time.

Delivery, Collection and Site Setup

Delivery from six in the morning on our own transport, with matting supplied where a machine has to cross a lawn or a block drive, and boards or plates for crossing kerbs. Access is checked in advance from photographs or a site visit so that a machine is not sent to a gateway it cannot pass. Collections run until seven in the evening and on Saturday mornings, and machines can be moved between sites during a hire at a fixed transfer price.

Accounts, Contracts and Training

Trade accounts with monthly invoicing, long-term contract hire for machines kept on a single site for months, and fleet support for builders who own their own plant and want servicing, inspections and thorough examinations carried out to schedule. We also run familiarisation sessions for private hirers and refresher training for site crews, and we hold the statutory inspection records that a client's health and safety adviser will eventually ask to see.
